Identifying UNSPSC codes which correspond to a supplier's activity is a critical step in the registration process. For more information, read the: How to select UNSPSC codes? article.
Suppliers experiencing issues to select relevant UNSPSC codes are advised to read the following information.
UNSPSC codes correspond to UN organizations procurement requirements
UN organizations use a selected list of UNSPSC codes corresponding to the products and/services which they may procure.
If suppliers are not able to find a specific UNSPSC code, it may imply that UN organizations do not procure this specific product and/or service.
For more information on UN organizations procurement requirements, access the Annual Statistical Report on United Nations Procurement page (opens in a new window).
Selecting UNSPSC codes for specific products, services and/or innovations
If suppliers provide specific products, services and/or innovations, identifying relevant UNSPSC codes may be challenging as UNSPSC codes refer to a standardized classification of products and services.
In case relevant UNSPSC codes may not be identified, suppliers are advised to select multiple UNSPSC codes to ensure that the product and/or service needed is covered.
If relevant UNSPSC codes may still not be found, suppliers are advised to contact UNGM using the contact form in the Help Centre. When contacting UNGM, suppliers are advised to provide a description of their products and/or services.
