What are the solicitations used in procurement?
The method used by Organizations to communicate a procurement requirement and request bids, quotations, or proposals from potential suppliers is referred to as the solicitation process.
In procurement, solicitations may take different forms:
Request for EOI (REOI) |
Written communication by a supplier to provide information about its products, resources, qualifications and experience, in response to a particular opportunity.

Request for Quotation (RFQ) |
Less formal solicitation than ITB and RFP, lower value (generally up to 50,000 USD, but can vary amongst UN agencies), standard specifications, product is readily available on the market.

Invitation to Bid (ITB) |
Formal solicitation, higher value (generally above 50,000 USD, but can vary amongst UN agencies), lowest price, compliancy and technical are competency determining factors.

Request for Proposal (RFP) |
Formal solicitation, higher value (generally above 50,000 USD, but can vary amongst UN agencies), requirements can be met in various ways, the overall best solution will win the contract, not necessarily the lowest price.

Suppliers may filter procurement opportunities by solicitation methods on UNGM. To filter by solicitation methods, please follow these steps:
1. Go to Procurement Opportunities on UNGM.
2. Click on Show more criteria.
3. Filter by Type of opportunity.
