UN business seminars are events that bring together UN Organizations and suppliers interested in working with the United Nations.
International Procurement Seminars (IPS) are one type of UN business seminar. They are organized in collaboration with governmental Trade Promotion Organizations (TPOs) from Member States.
What can suppliers learn at a business seminar?
Business seminars allow suppliers to learn more about the UN procurement market and how to work with UN Organizations.
Depending on the event, suppliers may learn about:
- How UN Organizations purchase goods and services
- Procurement processes and requirements
- Supplier registration and eligibility requirements
- How procurement opportunities are advertised
- Evaluation criteria and procurement procedures
- Specific procurement needs and areas of interest of participating UN Organizations
UN Organizations may also give presentations about their procurement activities and offer one-on-one meetings with suppliers.
How can I participate?
Typically, Trade Promotion Organizations (TPOs) reach out to suppliers to notify them about upcoming seminars.
However, suppliers are encouraged to also get in touch with the governmental trade promotion organization for their country.

How to make the most of a business seminar?
Before attending, we recommend:
- Reviewing the procurement activities and areas of interest of the participating UN Organizations.
- Making sure your UNGM supplier profile and company information are complete and up to date.
- Being prepared to explain clearly what your company offers and what makes your products or services relevant to the UN market.
- Reviewing any information provided before the event.
- Preparing questions about procurement requirements, procedures and upcoming opportunities.
Does attending a business seminar guarantee a procurement opportunity?
No. Business seminars are an opportunity to learn about UN procurement and engage with UN Organizations. Attending a seminar or meeting with a UN Organization does not guarantee an invitation to participate in a procurement process or the award of a contract.
Suppliers should continue to search for procurement opportunities on UNGM and follow the specific instructions provided in each notice.
